Roman Gladiator Backgammon

How did Roman Emperor Claudius customize his backgammon set?

Take a guess in our comments section. Read through for the answer!

One day, a customer inquired about a backgammon board with a Roman gladiator motif and knew exactly what he had in mind. Jimmy and Craig worked together on this design until it was the board he dreamed of.

Featuring a point design with the Roman weapon of choice —the gladius— on an aged parchment design on canvas fields. Julius Caesar’s battle cry “Alea iacta est!” or “The die is cast!” is a constant reminder of the backgammon battle ahead. Around the board’s bumpers are other Latin phrases sure to keep your head in the game.

Morituri te salutant  //  Those who are about to die salute you
Vincit qui patitur  //  He conquers who endures
Qui gladio ferit, gladio perit  //  Live by the sword, die by the sword
Fortes fortuna adiuvat  //  Fortune favors the brave
Vivere militare est  // To live is to fight

In love my board! The customer service I got was awesome. They were very patient with me and could not have been more supportive. It was such a fun process. I was glad to have my finished board but a little sad that the creative process was over.
