Beautiful and well made. I checked out a Wycliffe Brothers and noticed a difference in quality. Would have rated five stars but the surface is a bit slippery and the checkers will move around. I am told the surface will become less slippery with time. Worth the money.

This is a beautiful and well-made set. The red and black combination suggests the classic checker set layout, and all of the colors on the entire set just work beautifully together. The thin cork surface is perfect for play and for rolling dice, and it will age with character over time. People have asked me how much this set cost and guessed it was well over $500. Excellent value for the money!

This is a beautifully crafted set that’s great fun to play on. While more expensive sets might feature feature different materials, I don’t think you could describe any as ‘better.’ The cork, fabric, checkers, dice, doubling cube, cups – everything – is top quality! The color is richer and the fabric more attractive than the photos depict. This is a very pleasing set and a real bargain!

I bought my first Crisloid set in 1980, it has held up well, but has 1- 1/2″ checkers, so I wanted to upgrade to a tournament size board. Our club members have some fine sets including some in the $1000-$1500 range. I can say that the playing experience with the Crisloid Anchor is in no way inferior to those sets. The build quality, cork playing surface, and stiffness of the frames are excellent as are the dice cups, cube, checkers and dice. I opted for the grooved checkers upgrade. I considered the Wycliffe, Aries, Dal Negro sets, and others in the price range, but heard too many complaints from fellow members that they simply don’t stand up to heavy use. All in all an attractive, well made set, at a fair price.
