Mardi Gras Series

Crisloid custom backgammon set archival canvas purple teal

We received a call from a long-time loyal customer, expressing interest in making some backgammon sets with a Mardi Gras theme in mind. The customer knew exactly what shades of purple, green, and gold he wanted. Once he opted for canvas fields, Jimmy on our design team immediately had a visual in his mind.

These custom fields feature a fleur-de-lis pattern, a symbol often used in French cultures, notably in New Orleans, known for its elaborate Mardi Gras celebrations. The fleur-de-lis, meaning lily flower, has three petals for faith, wisdom, and chivalry. In Mardi Gras history, purple was picked to represent justice, green for faith, and gold for power.

When the customer received his custom tabletop, he was so enthralled with it, he ordered another one just like it in a Tournament Attaché.
